Carina Diedericks-Hugo

Author of children's books

Carina Diedericks-Hugo was born on 11 March 1977 in Johannesburg. She lived for four years in Pretoria, before the family moved to Cape Town. She attended Herschel Girls' School in Cape Town and also went to Boston, USA as a foreign exchange pupil, where she afterwards went back-packing for six weeks, before returning to Herschel and finishing matric. She read International Studies (BA, cum laude), Afrikaans and Dutch (BA Hons, cum laude) and Journalism (MPhil, cum laude) at Stellenbosch University.
Carina enjoys water hockey, riding and surfing. Favourite book: Balzac and the Little Chinese Seamstress by Dai Sijie.
She is an editor at Human & Rousseau Publishers and married to the poet, Daniel Hugo. They have five cats and live in Stellenbosch.
