Nogwaja Shadrack Zulu was born on 4 September 1959. He matriculated in 1980.
From 1996 to 1998 he was a District Coordinator: Subject Development, Phuthaditjhaba Education District, Free State Department of Education and Culture. During 1996 he was an acting District Coordinator: Subject Development, Harrismith District of the Free State Department of Education and Culture.
He received his DLitt degree, specialising in Literature, during 1998 at the University of Stellenbosch.

1989 - Short Course in English Language Teacher Education - University of Leeds, England.
