Laetitia (née Potgieter) was born on 30 May 1938 in Colesberg, Cape Province.
She attended the Queenstown Girls' High School and studied at the Universities of Natal (Pietermaritzburg), Cape Town and Stellenbosch, qualifying as a librarian. For a number of years she proof-read and indexed energy publications for the Institute for Futures Research. She then worked in the Media Centre, Faculty of Education, Stellenbosch University. Laetitia had travelled extensively and enjoyed reading. She was married to Peter Knox-Davies who died on 25 March 1999. They had a son, Evan, and a daughter, Ula.
Laetitia died on 11 June 2006.
