Annelize van Rooyen spent her early childhood on a farm in Natal and later grew up in Pietermaritzburg on a farm near Greyton. After matriculation from Hoër Meisieskool Oranje in Bloemfontein, she studied at Stellenbosch University (B.A.).
1973: reporter at Die Burger
1975: attended a course in filmmaking at Pretoria Technicon.
1976: started work at Beeld
In the early eighties, Annelize lived in London for two years. When she returned to South Africa, she accepted a position with Leserskring book club and later as a journalist for the journal Praktisyn. She worked for different publishers, also as their web designer.
Annelize lives in Cape Town. Her first novel was written during a seven months stay in the Algarve, Portugal.
