The Birds Around Us by Richard Liversidge, illustrated by Jill Adams & N. Lighton. This is one of my favourite birdbooks with charming descriptions of the birds and their behaviour. Jill Adams' illustrations of all birds (also in flight) are superb. I wish someone would update the book (first edition 1991) with new names and families and add more to the 876 Southern African birds shown.
